Where has men gone, with their hungering greed
And war machines, the poets and scribes,
Their ephemeral lives,
And their earth devouring needs,

Down into the dust they’ve gone,
To meet their end, to give the bone and skin
To mother earth, at dawn before rain,
The conclusion of pain,
And the final release of sin

Ahh but earth seems peaceful now,
No human shouts, foretelling any loss
That may have been, just virginal wilds,
Unhindered for miles,
And cyclopean plains of green,

But who shall map the empty miles
So men may see, or sail the empty seas
In fervent toss, who shall raise their eyes-
To ends of the skies.
Thankful for the lack of loss…

Wow zenith! That last line just GRABBED me!

"Thankful for the lack of loss..."

Earth, that's who. And how beautiful she is when not
covered with the parasite that is man.

I know this may not have been your meaning and yes, Mother Earth
is here for our survival, but I think man has taken MANY liberties
when it comes to the "need to survive", if you know what I mean.

Excellently thought provoking piece, as always. You churn not
only the heart with your work, but the mind as well. Always a
pleasure to be entertained by the inner workings of your soul.

Bravo poet!!

Again you write with such power and passion that it floors me!

What an amazing and well received idea you have poetically created here. Such an oustandingly gorgeous truth that without mankind our planet would be a wonder, a display which could make any soul weep in it's glory. Man indeed has taken the earth's wonder for granted and attempted to make it's glory cache. But what a site the world would be if we could see it work without the ailment of mankind. You've captured this well with perfect flow, imagery, and word choice. I must agree that last line is damn exceptional!

SUPERB!
