It hurts me so each Father's Day
not to be able to see your eyes light up.
To know you have been deprived of
the most precious gift of all.
It grieves me so when I see you with our nephew.
The two of you have formed such a bond.
The love you show to him is remarkable.
Seeing you with him brings a longing in my heart.
I know you would have been the same way
had it been our own child.
You have proven to be a perfect example
of what a Father should be.
So, today I want to say "Thank You"
for the comfort you've shown to me
when things didn't turn out the way we had hoped,
and for accepting me as I am.
I Love You, Jeff.
Happy Father's Day, anyway.
