Not now, not ever.
I’m not ready to come out from underneath my parents wings,
To face the real world all alone.
Not ready to come out of my sheltered home and out into that danger zone.
The thought of being out on my own stings.
I’m not ready.
I wonder if it’s just me.
Am I the only one feeling like this?
It appears that way.
They’re all so excited to get out of their parent’s lives…
And I’m fighting to stay with them, trying to figure out my motives.
I have not a clue in the world yet,
As to what I want to be when I get out.
So many choices, so many decisions to be made.
And I’m not ready for those yet; I’m still afraid.
I’m not ready to grow up,
Not now, not ever.
And maybe I never will be.
Maybe I’ll have this fear forever.
Or maybe not.
Maybe someone will come into my life and show me that I don’t need to be scared anymore;
That there is nothing to be afraid of.
It’s just the world.

It is not just you. I see it in many young people. Take one day at a time. You will do just fine.

It is not just you, even when we get older and a huge change comes it can be exciting and spooky at the same time. You will find your wings and fly and do just fine. I felt every emotion in this write, nicely done.

Wonderfully written. Thoughts can be our worst enemies .. and not only when
we are young, but even as we age. I think the world scares a lot of people.

I don't really believe it is any one thing, but the unknown that has us paralyzed.
Once we let that go and KNOW, regardless of what comes our way, that
we have people who care about us and we can lean on from time to time, life
stands explained. Or, at least, it becomes more in focus. lol

Great post. LOVED the last two lines ...
