Array ( [sid] => 142775 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Desert Opinions [time] => 2008-05-29 13:00:56 [hometext] => The 'Desert' in this poem is Iraq. The subject being my wife and how being here has changed my feelings towards her. [bodytext] => I swore up and down
Day in and day out
The way i made it sound
Removed all doubt

The desert wouldn't change me
Yet here i stand, feeling
As far from who i used to be
As I am from my own family

Nothing is the same
Everything is just a game
A stranger in my own mind
As I have come to find
That even what i see
Through my own two eyes
Has come to be
Different, no matter what i try

All my promises turn to dust
As all my lies that you trust
Lead you to believe
That I am as i have always been

But upon my lips
Lie the words
That will lead to this:
The end of your world

I must utter these world shattering desires
Even as i promised i wouldn't tire
Of your love and commitment
But here i appear to be,
Completely inconsistent

Feeling lost yet newly found
Sinking yet on solid ground
Standing firm, but shaking
Falling apart yet never breaking.
A confusing myriad
Of mismatching mundane mutinies.
Mentally moving the wall
That cornered me in this cage
Of pure intentions and good will
That has paved the way to outrage
And left me feeling completely ill
Just an Actor on this Desert Stage.

As the desert heat begins to devour
Forcing the taste of my past to turn sour
Creating the Desire to close that chapter
And as it solidifies; in my mind: Laughter.
A new beginning to an old life
Free of my addiction and strife
Free to my own decisions
Free of my chain-bound visions. [comments] => 4 [counter] => 221 [topic] => 21 [informant] => Thirten [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 10 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Lifepoems )

I thought this was a very open and honest write that expresses really well the feelings you have going through you at the moment. I like how you used your present situation in the desert to draw comparisons with the relationship with your wife. This is a well expressed and created poem. I hope it all works out for you....

First of all I want to say thank you for doing what you are doing and the sacrifices being made.

Secondly this poem really touched my heart, so honest and full of feeling. I felt you throughout this write. I send many warm wishes your way.

Be safe....

Hugs
