Beauty of Paper

Contributed by catz77 on Monday, 26th May 2008 @ 04:05:17 AM in AEST
Topic: anguished

They told me it’s impossible for me to fly
They said I’d have to dig real deep to find a pirates
Treasure
I was told my heart was flesh and easy to tear
I was told my brain was my boss
And tears couldn’t bring anyone back
It’s impossible to do too many things, they say
Like carrying the world on your back
This world is harsh and you need to deal with it, they said
But I proved them all wrong
I have brought people alive with the tears of my pen
I’ve become the Earth on paper
And I’ve found multiple treasures
I’ve rid my problems with an eraser and I’ve made myself fly
The trees dance when I say they do
The people sing when I tell them to
They do what I say because on paper and
In my poems everything is possible
From weeping dirt to dry clouds
From a sad life
To the greatest life a person can have
And it will last as long as I say it does
Because on paper I’m allowed to be happy

Excellent poem with a fantastic message. I particularly liked this line: "I have brought people alive with the tears of my pen". Well done.
