Array ( [sid] => 14255 [catid] => 1 [aid] => Mick [title] => You don't know me [time] => 2003-03-14 00:20:00 [hometext] => This is to all the people (at school...) who think they know me, but really they have no clue. i know they won't be reading the poem, but its what i feel. [bodytext] => You don't know me,
You don't know how much i fear going home,
Scared that i might be pushed over the fine line i tiptoe on,
Scared that i can do what i want when i'm alone.

You don't know me,
You don't know that my dad used to beat us all the time,
Or that i may not hate him as much as i make out,
Or that i cry at night when silence is mine.

You don't know me,
You don't know why i can't smile and laugh like you,
Or pretend that i'm 6 again; because for me, they weren't good years,
Or pretend that i have the happy life you do.

You don't know me,
You don't know how when i look in the mirror, i hate the thing i see,
So i won't pretend i know you,
So long as you don't judge me. [comments] => 4 [counter] => 200 [topic] => 32 [informant] => M [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => SadPoetry )

OMG! M, dont let them get to you...they REALLY dont know...so just treat them like you would a child... I relate to you though... My father abused me for 12 yrs...i didnt even get to go to school until 4th grade...but hell, i think i was more ready to endure the beatings i got at home then the ones i got at school. I'm sure you can relate to some of my poetry on the subject to... but i'm out of my home...my father is going to be locked away for a very long time...so, i am healing... and if you EVER need anyone to talk to... please feel free to e-mail me...

O Em! Now I truly understand you comment on my poem. The sun has penentrated the clouds. But you can't let them get you down. I don't. I didn't. And I won't. It is something most of them will never understand. I won't pretend to know your situation. But I know my variation. And I know I relate to this poem... Thank you for sharing this with us...
