You're lonely tonight,
heart broken, and hollow,
with no tears to cry,
and nothing but sorrow
and you can't speak at all,
you just silently pray,
that you'll still be alive,
at the end of the day.

There will be times when the past,
will come knock on your door,
there'll be no time for tears,
they will rule you no more
and you'll stand there and gasp
till your lips will turn blue
but then you will find
that your breath will come through,
and it's now not so hard,
when you stand face to face,
with the memories inside,
and your silent disgrace,
let the past go,
and forget for a moment,
that you're lonely tonight,
and it's always a problem
that the betrayal still hurts
and you can't let it go
the hope that's inside,
is too frightened to show,
you hold on to your chest,
hold together the holes,
that stem from their names,
--- they tear open your soul,
they'll heal in time,
but you're lonely tonight,
and it's harder to breathe,
and it's harder to fight,
and it feels like the pain
will break you in two,
but no one can see,
it's the past killing you.
and the smile is futile,
an endless illusion,
put there to stop you
from facing the future,
but no one will see,
that behind all the acting,
the pain is still burning,
and the facade is cracking,
'cause you're lonely tonight,
and all you can see,
is the past, and the heartbreak,
slowly repeating,
the past doesn't care,
that you're lost and defeated,
left only with memories
and a heart torn in pieces.

Partly based very, very loosly on the heart of the character Isabella Swan by Stephenie Meyer, but mostly based upon my own fragile feelings [comments] => 10 [counter] => 462 [topic] => 48 [informant] => lostinmyself [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 10 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => EmotionalPoetry )

Philly,

My dear sweet Philly, as you shared your excitement with me in writing this piece.

Each and every word gripped my very soul. Not only did you pull me in, but in this we shared so much pain together.

Thank you for your faith in me, I will always have that same faith in you.

Peace

~Shannon

Very sad and dark, Phyllis. I can relate to this a lot. I especially like the first eight lines. Whoa, powerful.

Thanks,

Tim
