I refuse to let my weakness overcome
I will not let life pass me by
And live to resent the person I’ve become
I am the one who stands for what I know
And I believe in what I trust
I can grasp onto what I dream
To succeed I know I must.
I cannot let the fear of failure
Lay as a shadow behind success
For if I do, my triumphant moments
Will just be shadowed by distress
I am the one who is always held
At a lower level then her peers
The one who isn’t an AP student
But is really smarter than she appears
People may not believe it
But I know a bright future lies ahead
I could try and convince these others
Or I can just prove them wrong instead
They say I don’t have the same opportunity
Since I struggle somewhat in math
Watch me as I over take that theory
And become successful on another path
I resent the idea of failure
I understand I have to earn this preferred respect
But at the same time I also know
I have my own identity to protect
I know I can still be who I am
Yet achieve this life that I desire
The people all around me set the bar
But I know that I’ll strive higher
God can only do what I do for myself
He’ll watch as I prove these people wrong
He’s given the gift of strength,
For he knows that I am strong.

What this deserves is a standing ovation. So many of us become wrapped up in what others tell us we cannot do and preach to us about the successful person we will never become. A lot of these people who tell you, you cannot accomplish great things are actually afraid of all of the great things you are sure to accomplish. Most of the successful people before you and around you had difficulty in certain areas of life, but succeeded greatly in the areas they knew well. Stay strong in your belief in God. Wonderful message. Thank you for sharing it.

Jazzyfizzle,
I for one will clap and cheer as you dance on top of that bar. I believe you can do anything you set your mind too. Awesome write my friend. Walk with your head held high! Those who put us down fear that we will rise above.

I love your screen name! This poem is full steam ahead. You are truly gifted in many ways.
March on little trooper! I will cheer the entire way!

People act in ways out of feeling threatened and jealous march to your own tune and keep right on going!

Michelle
