Long beyond those days in the sun
when flesh and breath are one,
our bones will build the landscapes
of other futures.

What small traces remain,
a thing, a word or human stain
will live after remembrance
and be remade in its own space.

Less important to be different,
sea-grown or heaven sent
when the mystery has no answer
that can be understood.

Instead, the hearts of stars
make us humble containers,
driving our green engines
back into the dust, and history.
