As we waste away the day
We take another hit to forget
What it is we want to say

It's not that I don't love you
It's not you don't love me
It's just that we have realized
The two of us aren't meant to be

So we both go through the motions
The tediums of life
The more we grow apart it seems
The more we feel the strife

And when the day arrives
When the two of us implode
Neither you or I can stand
To bear the heavy load

Why can we be honest
To each other and ourselves?
So long I've kept these painful thoughts
Upon the dusty shelf

For when I brush them off again
The fear inside me swells
Because it hurts so much to think of you
With anybody else. [comments] => 4 [counter] => 265 [topic] => 22 [informant] => jesusofholland [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => LostLove )

So sad two hearts growing away from each other until there is nothing left but a sad bitterness on both sides. I hope that this is just a poem and not a real life situation. soapy

It is so sad when a relationship goes sour... and both parties stay together because of lack of communication... Nice write..Hope it gets better...

What a mature and yet, solemn view on a relationship that's come to
a "realization". Very well written. So hard to stay ... so hard to leave..

It's a difficult position to be in for sure. Hopefully things become a little
less painful as time moves forward. And that your venting-through-
poetry
helps.
