Not as a lover, but as a friend.
He sensed the sadness in her heart
And a shoulder to cry on, he did lend.

She felt the tender love
That he showered upon her tonight.
And with an even more tender heart
He made the darkness seem bright.

But, be aware, he said to her
We will play when the time is right.
But now, the love is tender and from the heart,
Cause that’s what you need tonight.

I will delight in your nakedness,
But not be your lover tonight.
Soon our bodies will again be one,
When once more, your heart is light.

All through the night, he said to her,
I will be with you.
Love and kisses, my Little Lady,
And may you sleep well too.

Jenni,
You have this right.

There are many times when it is not so much about the love making, as it is about the basics of love. You have surely got a good piece of it here.

Good write.

Stephan

Jenni, this was so lovely. A perfect description of just one of the beautiful
facets of love. Wow. To have someone there just to hold your sadness with
you. What a tremendous feeling! You've captured in this piece what I think
we, as humans all desire. Someone who can sense what we need and give
it, without question and unselfishly. Outstanding write, my friend. :)

Just beautiful!

True. If you can't be there for the care and affection without expecting more, then it's not genuine love, only lustful passion. Then again, Marvin Gaye did sing about sexual healing...
