Reaching out to stroke your child
Finding pain inside her heart
Holding on to one last moment
Deep inside they scream for her
Burned by sunlight rays
Demons stalk her in the night
Waiting for their chance
Hold tightly, bright light, keep her safe
From the darkness deep inside
It's swelling up now
Breaking loose from the bonds
Go to her, save her, that lost soul
She's loosing now, the darkness winning
Watch on in horror as she changes
Piercing red eyes and talons reaching
A disturbing feeling deep inside
You can't save her anymore
Don't look away, watch her die
See what becomes of those you leave behind
Monster, she became a monster
Surely it's not your fault
All you did was have some fun
It's her fault, all her fault
She wasn't strong enough
Tell yourself this over and over
As she holds a blade to your throat
You didn't create this
Feel the terror, anguish, yet?
See the monsters you create?
It's not your fault
You cry out loudly
She leans forward, knife pressing against you
Whispering venom in your ear

This poem is very powerful. Possibly she has an addiction. Possibly from a devastating loss. Maybe both. It's funny how one can change so drastically in almost the blink of an eye. I myself was once this lost teen, full of hated and anger. I hated myself and everyone around me, and addiction is a heavy cross to bear. She may be a monster now, desolantdreamer, but continue to show her unconditional love, even if she no longer deserves it. For when she gains a few more years, that love may be the one thing that saves her. Powerful write. I felt it deeply, and my heart is with you both.
