Array ( [sid] => 141778 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Eyes Half Open [time] => 2008-04-22 10:30:45 [hometext] => This is a poem i wrote when i hadn't had much sleep and i was sitting staring out the window at the rain falling in the backyard [bodytext] => I sit with eyes half open, staring at the world
As rain falls upon this place and soaks the ferns unfurled
To be awake at such a time and feel sleep's tender call
I long to let these lids upon my weary eyeballs fall

This day seems to stretch on forever and still there's more to come
Oh so tired I sit upon my chair and my mind is nearly numb
Still the rain falls upon this world and clouds encase the sky
It's cold and wet outside and inside i sit and sigh

I find myself so wide awake on such a drawn out night
Being so alert at such a time can give you quite a fright
I feel so tired and yet i dare not shut my drifting eyes
Between my mind and my weary eyes there seems to be no ties
I wish so much to rest my head and steal a moment's sleep
It feels so late to be awake and still i feel the minutes creep [comments] => 3 [counter] => 320 [topic] => 60 [informant] => poetic_punk [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 0 [associated] => [topicname] => insomniac )
