Array ( [sid] => 141712 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => The Fallen Stars of Age [time] => 2008-04-19 21:56:39 [hometext] => A metaphor designed to represent a reflection upon life (though not mine); hurredly attempting to reach a destination and never slowing to enjoy the small pleasures life has to offer. [bodytext] => Upon one dark and dismal morning, midst the fallen rains of May,
I witnessed here, a joyous feeling, that could well have been a warning
Or an omen, here and reeling, stealing thoughts to feed decay.

A flame had rained from out the sky, a sight so seldom seen.
This light that flew betwixt the stars, so silent, bright, and caught afar,
Until it passed beyond the reach of any king or queen.

I leapt to catch that fallen grace, upon the stone from whence I stood.
Ascending fast I sought go faster, breathing, wanting, wingéd master;
Never ending, never ceasing, always there, misunderstood.

I flew and grew with every beat, my heart about to burst,
For there the light, so full of yearning, ever changing, always learning,
Sought to satiate and quench its otherworldly thirst.

Nearly now, I felt its warmth, its body within sight.
The silver, gilded, blinding passion, filled within me every ration;
Every notion, birthed within that calm and brilliant light.

After what had seemed like hours, reaching, grasping, wanting more,
I found myself abreast the fire, truly there, amidst its power,
Wishing that what I admired granted life at mere rapport.

But yet when glory found its place, when all was said and done,
The light that I forever chased, had fallen quick with hidden grace,
Beyond the call of mortal brace, betwixt the stars and wilted sun. Damn!

How finely poetic. Light chasing ... kinda like chasing a moment, no? For we
can no more hold a moment in our hands than that of the brilliant light you
described above. In our hearts, perhaps. But we need not try and tie it in
any way .... or how quickly it slips from us then. This was magnificent poetry,
my friend. A true gem to find on the home page. Your masterful way with
rhyme scheme and imagery is breathtaking. And the sentiment itself is
just so softly inspiring.

Gorgeous work!
