Array ( [sid] => 14167 [catid] => 1 [aid] => Mick [title] => Where I Belong [time] => 2003-03-12 18:40:00 [hometext] => If you know who I'm writing this to, then you must have been a teenager once! lol... the "he" and "she" parts are about Dean and Emily, the good things in my life. It's the first free verse I've written in a while. I didn't even intend to write a poem, I just had to write something to calm me down. [bodytext] => Before me I see a world
That could be filled with happiness and everything I need
But you always have to bring me down
And I wish you wouldn't be that way
My life could be so beautiful
But you don't understand the things I want
It's so simple, if only you could see
How much I love a summer sunset
Laying around, doing nothing, making love
Paper and a pencil and I couldn't be more content
Love and trust keep my world going 'round
Running carelessly with the wind in my hair
And the rain at my back
Waking up to morning sunshine instead of darkness
A blissful sigh as I surrender to my every desire
My every irrational fear
Knowing nothing else matters at all
Sleeping in his arms, somewhere I belong
After always being out of place
This is where my real life begins
And two people will be at the end of it
You, you'll be so left behind
For doing what you had to do
Someday I'll understand but for now I don't
Only because you don't get me
You don't know how much I hate my life
He's the only one that sees stars in my eyes
And looks deep enough to see the real me
And love me more for who I am
She's the only one that knows what I'm really about
So many emotions that you just can't see
You'll never be who I turn to to make it better
To hold me and kiss my tears away
He sweeps me off my feet
With the sweetest words and all the things he does
She is the birth of my laughter
And a million favourite memories
The two people I trust with my life to be there
You may not like it, but this is me
I need a place to call home, a lover, a friend
A family of my very own
The souls I connect with
Who have been right there since the very beginning
The ones who've proved their faith
They're my everything forever
And sadly enough, when my life is mine and only mine
I just don't see you in the picture
And I know everybody says that
But you've gotta understand, only they get me
I need to be where I belong
That's when I'll be happy
And because I'm me and you're you
You just can't make me happy
My angel and my butterfly, that's all I need
They're where my life begins
And they'll be standing by my side the day it ends
