I know myself. . .
. . . reflective ecstasy.
neurotic sibling of defense.
the fray of all our deeds.
to want & weigh
to chase forgiveness
to hunt it where it sleeps.
to have, to hold
to all consuming
necessity of relief.
I saw a lame man
from a distance.
he seemed alot like me.
a causual glance
a surface noticed
had turned the "I" to "we".
taunt with mocking
rivals reaching,
burdened to the teeth.
he searched beyond
the dim horizon.
he looked to his beliefs. . .
no matter how he
stumbled towards me
I could not shift my eyes.
he came with brittle
understanding
& bones carved out of time.
he moved with knowledge
subtle knowing,
nuance now benign.
a gracious giving
to his capture. . .
life had been unkind.
& on & on
to endless lessons
struggling as we go.
a change in content
of what we're bearing
displaces what we know.
somewhere in time
we'll meet again
beneath the learning tree,
beside the waters of regret,
where he can notice me.
it is the name
I give myself. . .
