Rules are meant to be broken.
Maybe it was the fact that the fruit was forbidden,
That made him crave it so.
No sorrow,
No remorse,
Lost in savage darkness,
Battling for his soul.
Still he hungered to be mortal,
And feel what mortals feel.

And so he roamed throughtime,
Watched,
Waited,
Until one night he found her.

Burning with hunger, he wanted her;
Fought a duel; killed to have her.
She was set free at last,
Held tightly in his arms, she was released.
And the hunger grew.
She felt it too.
For those moments lightning lived in their veins.
He took what he wanted,
Not just because of his hunger,
But because of something,
Something more.
Something he hadn't felt before.
Found here in human flesh.

This was the first time in his thousands of years,
That he felt truly like an angel.
Maybe this is what he hungered for.
Maybe this is why he was sent from above.
To feel,
At last,
What gods and humans feel.
To feel, for the first time,
Love.
And with that emotion came others:Heartbreak, loss, pain.

His angel,
Truly free at last.
He carried her as far as he could,
Then he could go no further.
Having felt as humans do, he was now mortal.
His wish was finally granted. [comments] => 2 [counter] => 162 [topic] => 43 [informant] => Amoeba [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => oops )

I really liked this poem ... it was intriguing ... it reminded me of that beautiful movie City of Angels. You make this angel seem like he is tormented before he finds love ... whereas angels, I'm sure are at peace .... so I enjoyed it because it was different. Good write ... Jan
