I saw an image of you standing in a vast field
You looked so sad and helpless
So I whispered your name into the wind
Hoping that you would hear my voice
But you did not turn around
I felt a cold chill enter my body
and with the blink of an eye you vanished from my sight
My beautiful little boy
Where have you gone?
Are you playing hide and seek so that mommy can find you?
Can’t you see that this game has me exhausted?
and the lack of your presence is tugging at my heart’s strings
When will you be ready to come back home?
It’s becoming too cold out to play
As I look down I notice my tears begin to descend
like miniature icicles crashing to the floor
I feel like time is running out
The more I wait for you to come to my side the more I feel like letting go
Please…
Wake me up from this nightmare before it drowns me

Silence falls once again
and i’m left behind waiting for you to say to me
“It was only a bad dream. Everything is going to be alright”

This really hit my heart, the feelings in this so vivid and the details and images so painful. You did well writing this.

Huge hugs

Michelle

You expressed so eloquently the fears of every woman who has experienced motherhood even for a fleeting moment in time.

This piece left me with tears in my eyes and an aching in my heart. Very nicely done.

Peace

~Shannon

When a poem can touch the heart of the reader and blow them away with the depth of emotion contained within it, you know you have done a good job.
I'm sure you already know this is the case here, without me even telling you so

Steve
