four legged friend, faithfully stands near,
denied are thy memories,
soaking morning blush , behind seven shades,
~~~
Circumstance my human vineyard,
knelt none before me,
judgement had wondered in,
waves spin the clock,
in wait I see nothing ..... but a blank wall,
~~~
Ceilings cracked, by others' screams,
years spent trapped, behind bars,
What rest will follow me,
dreams carry no dance,
a black hallway becomes my home,
~~~
I cry tears alone ..... behind a steel wall,
'who's looking',
only those with judgement in their eyes,
~~~
Spend one day with me,
my sorrows numb and dry,
the ones I leave behind are hounded,
dogs running wild,
the liner of their pocket ..... greed,
~~~
Their dance coated silver,
they won the trial,
my defeat goes un-noticed,
I become nothing,
~~~
Years pass ..... I remain locked, drowned,
encased by systems brand,
I holler, but I'm left nothing,
unshaded echoes fill my space,
~~~
My youth slids away ..... none notice,
I am just a number in a bruise,
slipping thru time,
'So long" a letter reads,
my wend holds the path,
behind barbed wire,
~~~
' Where was he when I needed him',
another cries out,
it shivers a dance thru my very veins,
Long gone is my mercy,
wicked steers, took my very youth,
who's watching now,
when all I see is a hallway of darkness,
spots aging my very youth,
~~~
'What crime have I committed,
the keeper returns an answer,
"Born poor, Son, Born poor"
~~~
Suddenly a vision appears,
three crosses on calvary,
In judgement hangs the Lord,
my very God, thee Savior,
His last words,
"Come home child, you are mine"
the gate of life is open,
my soul is free!

Wow Valerie, I had to read this a number of times to take in all your words - you have a very deep and powerful message in there ... incredibly tormented ... but in the end I was almost glad to read your last lines - it made me feel so much better :)))) Outstanding poem .... love Jan
