You’re so beautiful!”
Yes, that is what he had said.
Long before the morning sun came up
And before the evening moon appeared
He was dead.

Yes, that is what he had said
“Purple sky, beautiful
You’re so beautiful!”
He did not cry
She couldn’t cry.
Frustrated, depressed
Belated birthday cards
Envelopes, all undressed

She was blessed!
She knew as soon as she greeted that morning sun
She was blessed!
She knew when she had said goodnight to the moon
For she had cried
One half Tear
Best she’d done
All those years
Less than one

For many nights, and before the risen sun
She sat up thinking
Really praying for luck
Just one half Tear
Would that do?
Could one half tear do much?

Did she have any? If so, were they locked up in ducts?
No, she couldn’t sleep
She had prayed she’d cry
She had prayed she could cry

And in her scattered short view she would sigh!
But, she knew she had been blessed
When that one half tear appeared
And, when it fell
It was so warm
A heavenly morning sun
I must tell
That one half tear
To her, was larger than the ocean

Drawn from her soul, a new emotion
But there were many years
When she’d look up into the sky
She felt like one lonely star
Far away from the rest

Visibly at best
Now and then she’d see a small bit of purple
And I can still recall
How she would shout
Icy, blue sky! At times

I’d hear her cry, “You’re Icy, blue sky!” Sometimes
She had asked me why
He’d say, “Purple sky, beautiful
You’re so beautiful,
Each morning, each evening,
You’re so beautiful, purple sky!”

Her thoughts, did he lie?
“Purple sky, beautiful
You’re so beautiful!”
And that’s what she said, shortly before she was dead

That is what he had said,
That is what she had said,
“Purple sky, beautiful
You’re so beautiful!”
His soul, it is not dead!
Her soul, it is not dead!

In my heart I heard what he said
His soul, it is not dead
In my heart I heard what she said
Her soul, it is not dead
And to this day
“Purple sky, beautiful
You’re so beautiful!”
That is what I now say

Yes, that is what I now say
Because as I once gazed up into the morning and evening sky
I noticed the scattered light had changed
And then it had passed through my soul
Strongly showing me truths that day
And so this is what I now say,
“Purple sky, beautiful
You are so beautiful!”
He did not lie!
She did not lie!
“Beautiful, you’re so beautiful purple sky!”

interesting and very enjoyable, I like it when poems are deeper than the first read. i took the "one half tear" to represent an ability to properly grieve and accept the passage of a soul from this material world
