it rains of desolation
screaming inside ..
no one comes to my aid to ail the pain

I lay there forsaken
its a new awakening
a breaking down
of my own self
leave all this animosity on the shelf
reaching for it
only when i feel the need

reach for the hatred inside
only when they make me bleed .. again

fall to me
fall from me
ressurect the wounds
each day gets more insane than the last
i'll never escape the chains of the past

Brillant. The words just jump of the page and get in your face. Your words and the emotions hold so much power and this is wonderfully written. The title of this poem fits this to a tee and can make this poem so very relateable. Amazing poem.

Take care
Christina

Very powerful write.

The past is definitely a haunting animal.

wow Jenni, it's so nice to see a new post from you! ^_^

You have touched on an inescapable subject .. the past and its hold
on our hearts, (or should I say its grip) It is a very powerful
motivator to be sure. How lovely it would be if we could just choose
the memories we want to retain and let the others fall away, hmm?

In any case, excellent word choices here. They add to
the poem's emotive quality and blending.

~Breezy
(thanks for your very kind words in the forums. :)
