Lying here sleepless, alone with the rain,
Thoughts of you find me, rarely do they wane.
Remembering whispers and typed words in chat,
Wondering if I could have imagined all that.
Hearing your voice soft inside of my heart
Telling myself to forget, not to start
Dreaming of you, as I have for two years
But instead to move on, think of something more clear.
Words that you wrote, softly sing like the dove
We'll be friends forever, and work on the love
Did you mean any of it, or did I just hope
Were they just words on paper, like a horoscope?
And yet as my heart aches, I smile once again
I say a prayer for you, and I put down my pen.
The door is always open, the phone always on,
And I hope someday to sing again for you your song.
So on this holiday of romance and kisses
I send you a poem, filled with only good wishes
That you've found your true love, and together you'll be
As happy as hearing your voice always made me.
