[title] => A Decade Ago (Thoughts of my dearest Friends)
[time] => 2003-03-10 06:30:00
[hometext] => Dedicated to my friends who grew up running wild with me in Hazard, Ky, and to the memories of Wayne Spurgeon, Jamie Hall, Dickie Trent, David Chaney, T. J. Hurt, Joel Marcus Wells, Terry John Noble, Anthony 'Bo' Sharpey, and all the others no longer with us.
[bodytext] => A decade ago,
We stood immortal, fully embracing the philosophy of Carpe Diem. We seized not just the day, but each and every moment of every day we shared. We stood immortal, invincible in our youth. Our number, while never tallied, often numbered thirty or more in the ‘triangle’, on Town Mountain, Paradise Flats, or the lake. Were we not the rulers of the universe we surveyed. A decade ago, We knew nothing of responsibility, living life to its fullest, our only task. Each day we shared spent running H.F.W.F.O. no thought of consequence or regret A decade ago, death had yet to enter into our midst, now each year it seems finds our number fewer by two or three A decade ago, We had not went a hundred different paths, leading to different towns, different lives, No longer seeing each other every day or even every year. A decade later, I often think of what we did not have to say to one another then. We each knew what the others meant to us and the place they kept in our hearts. A decade later, I simply want each of you to know how much each and everyone of you meant and still mean to me.
