And I set out readily to respond to the call.
The green wood trees beckon me with warmth and smile,
I enter into Nature’s abode of sublime bliss, where
The ambience is delightful, the atmosphere serene.
I tread upon the fallen leaves rustling rhythmically,
As I measure my steps gently.
Songs of the birds in varied tones and tempo
Blend to make the signature music of Nature.
The virgin air carrying aroma of wild flowers,
Waft gently, purifying my breath,
And bringing peace to my mind.
Beams of Sun light penetrate through
The opening of the dense trees,
Illuminating the dark woods here and there.
At times, strong wind blows,
Forcing the trees to dance to its rhythm,
Generating a sound, as if bursting into sudden laughter.
And I cross the stream very cold and clear,
Showcasing the pebbles,
In numerous geometric shapes and hues.
Stopped by the child in me,
I pick up a few and pocket them proudly.
As I move further deep into the woods,
I hear faintly the unrecognized voices,
Breaking the silence now and then.
Suddenly a herd of elephants cross my path,
(No, I cross their path and trespass their zone.)
I trust these dumb animals
Than the animals with human face, who
Unprovoked may assault you brutally.
Here, I have no fear and nor I feel insecure,
Unlike walking down the streets in down town,
Where the potential dangers await you,
In the form of sudden shoot out or mob violence;
Or a bomb blast may hurl you dead;
Or a rashly driven vehicle may knock you down.
Not here in the wilderness;
You are safe as a baby in mother’s lap.
I long to stay here, clung to Mother Nature’s bosom.
Tranquil is this place where my soul should rest in peace.
Disturbing suddenly, my mobile rings alarmingly,
A voice call wants me urgently,
Forced I am to return home dejectedly.
