[title] => Dangerously Odd World
[time] => 2008-01-12 06:03:06
[hometext] => In the United States, both political parties like to believe their principles best defend the sanctitiy of life. Neither party has the corner on morality, however.
[bodytext] => Dangerously Odd This is a dangerously peculiar world I find myself in. Actually, it is mostly the humans who are dangerously peculiar. For instance: some say our nation is the richest power that has ever existed; some say our nation is great, that our nation is the moral giant of the world; some actually believe we are a nation under God; some say with an air of moral certitude: Let them be born, but let them struggle; let them thrash about; let them wallow in their own personal morass of preventable disability; let them fight the impossible battle, alone; let their minds become dull from malnutrition; let them experience failure; let them wither away, day by day, moment by moment, child, by child, by child. On the other hand, some say our nation is greedy and self-centered; some say our nation is short-sighted, that we are selfishly consuming with no regard for the future; some say we are callous to the needs of the weak and unfortunate; some say with haughty indignant voices: Let them choose; let them decide; let them end what they so nonchalantly began; let the little ones be destroyed before they have a voice; let them be shattered before they have breath; let them die, day by day, moment by moment, child, by child, by child. So, there you have it! a culturally accepted institutionalized gamut, designed specifically for the most innocent and defenseless among us! With the best social wisdom our nation has to offer we must choose: Cause them to be born and then let them wither away, or, let them die and be done with it. A nation under God... dangerously odd; indeed, dangerously odd. rko december nine, two thousand, two [comments] => 1 [counter] => 217 [topic] => 21 [informant] => enigma [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Lifepoems )
