[title] => Where Are They?
[time] => 2008-01-10 15:57:07
[hometext] => Over ninety percent of children conceived with Down syndrome are killed before they even have a chance to breathe. What is a child with Down syndrome to think living amongst a society which considers them to be so worthless?
[bodytext] => Where Are They? Where are they, my soul-mates? Dehumanized; torn and burned; laid to rest beside rusting refrigerators, rotting potato peels, and crumpled up pieces of paper. Where are they, my brothers and sisters; your brothers and sisters? Thrown away; discarded; forgotten. Why are they not? What unspeakable mystery was at work, causing me to be chosen, and them not; obliterating their existence, and granting me life? Their absence breeds a twisted and loveless void; a sanctioned holocaust, deep within the breast of mankind. Their's is an eternal silence that roars; a disconsolate chorus in my soul; a requiem within my spirit. Many times, within my still and sacred sanctuary of thought, I tremble and wonder: Why am I, while they are not? rko october eighteen, two thousand, two [comments] => 1 [counter] => 190 [topic] => 21 [informant] => enigma [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Lifepoems )
