Array ( [sid] => 139396 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Who will be the voice for a child? [time] => 2007-12-25 19:12:38 [hometext] => I have volunteered for many years as a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate), a voice for abused and neglected children in the juvenile court system. This poem comes from that experience. [bodytext] => Who will be the voice for a child?
A child who is broken and abused,
Then thrown away once he is used
Like an unwanted piece of trash.

Who will be the voice for a child?
A child who is hurting and in pain,
And doesn’t even know his name
Because he’s been called so many.

Who will be the voice for a child?
A child whose pillow is soaked with tears,
Because he is haunted by fears
That are too numerous to count

Who will be the voice for a child?
A child who sadly knows how it feels,
To go without eating meals
For several days at a time.

Who will be the voice for a child?
A child who is so scared and alone,
With no place to call his home
Because no one wants him in theirs.

Who will be the voice for a child?
A child, who except for God’s grace,
Could possibly be wearing your face
And you would then feel his pain.

Will you be that voice?

God bless you.

Hi, first of all thank you for commenting on my poem earlier, Putting on the Smile. As new user to this site I thought I would return the favour and I found this little beauty. Children are so precious and many so abused these days it needs to be bought to the forefront. I have written a poem called
Hush you Children, which I will post in a couple of days. Please read it and let me know what you think of it. It is about children suffering abuse aand I didn't know where I was going with it and I started to cry. Can you imagine, I didn't even know the ending until I got there. Your words are asking if we will be a voice and I say YES!!!!!!!!!!!
Very good
