It’s an obstacle course in vulture town,
designed to break resistance down
the pavement whores and product preachers,
the doorknockers and street leeches
Can I have a minute of your time?
NO! it’s MINE!

Hi! How-are-yas, extended hand,
such false sentiment I can’t stand
in a continuous flow of words and banter,
coupled with a weird street canter
they won’t let go till you’ve signed a plan
Hey - I’m doing you the favour, man!

Running the gamut to get to work,
a waste of time calling them jerks
it bounces off them like Teflon,
it’s what their egos are built on
Have you got a moment to save the whales?
this from pretty girls and hunky males
have they ever smelled whale breath?
that’s enough to earn them death!

A charity bucket nudged under the nose,
or buy your girl a crappy rose
wash your windscreen? Shine your shoes?
franchise schemes where you ‘can’t lose’
I’m not interested, can’t you see?
-just feck off away from me!

The trip home is becoming absurd,
it’s like a scene from Hitchcock’s Birds
even behind closed doors
I’m assailed in the Carrier wars
I’m gauging interest in a cool new phone
Is the dummy of the house at home?

Here’s a thought to stop the rot
… tazer and mace the bloody lot! [comments] => 6 [counter] => 401 [topic] => 46 [informant] => spike [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 24 [ratings] => 5 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => didactic )

Reminds me of a normal society when inside everywhere or anywhere wherevery the shelter or temporary buisness may be.But on the outside wherever at it sounds like normal society.Very good poem descriptive photo imagining ect.-People Are Strange When Your Are A Stranger People Seem Wicked When Your Alone,Faces Come Out In The Rain When Your Strange,People Look Ugly When Your Alone When Your Strange,Streets Are All You Got When Your Strange-Comment from The Grim Reaper,DevilsPriest,Denver L. Well spike, you've mastered an issue with humour and aplomb once more. I am infinitely
happy that they came out with call display; it certainly takes care of those annoying
telemarketer calls at dinner time. :P

I love that last stanza. "the dummy of the house" .. damn! That is awesome. You know what else
I find annoying? When I am purchasing something at a department store and the cashier offers
me a savings if I sign up for their credit card. I think it's abhorrent that they entice people to get
a discount, knowing full well, the majority of them will get themselves into a debt that costs them
100 times (in interest fees) the money they'd save with the stupid discount. Hrmph!

Perfect wording and flow of thought, as usual, Mr. Spike. Hope your New Year is exceptional!!

=)

What a totally encapsilated view of social life today..it's going on inside everybody's head but to hear it outside defined with such accuracy....it's hard to believe we all put up with it.
Hand me that tazer...I'll help you get some of them...
