Another Woman's Children

Topic: dedicatedpoems

Another woman's children came into your home,
You loved them and nurtured them just like your own.

Each one had such troubles that set them apart,
Yet in the blink of an eye, they'd won over your heart.

The eldest was stubborn and full of defiance,
Still you broke through her wall of impenetrable silence.

The middle child came full of panic and fear,
But you loved her and calmed her and dried all her tears.

The youngest was angry, but unable to speak,
Yet you replaced tantrums with words in just a few weeks.

You gave of yourself never looking for praise,
Taught valuable lessons and instilled Godly ways.

The weeks turned to months, time quickly passed on,
And before you knew it the children were gone.

Now your house feels so empty, your heart it does too,
But the children, they flourished because of you.

So remember that you always gave them your best,
And let the Good Lord in heaven take care of the rest.

Caroline T. Smith
