Gateways to our Soul
The gateway to
Souls are a few inches away.
They tell our stories
No matter how hard we try to hide.
Our souls are never ending
For always forgetting where they began.
The eyes tell it all
No matter what we say.
The hold the pain,
And the love we lock away.
We see them in a variety of colors
Such beauty must display.
They hold our fears
And our joys and wash away
The years.
For our eyes tell it all
No matter how we try to evade.
Patrick.

Patrick,
I've lived fifty-six and a half years. I have discovered that mankind's common desires are to know and be known, to understand and be understood, to accept and be accepted, to Love and be Loved. Though these desires permeate all of society, it is the poet who really takes these desires seriously. As your poem expresses, you can see it in our eyes. The irony is, all that we experience tells us, this BEING KNOWN thing is a dangerous thing. BEING KNOWN makes us fearfully vulnerable, and this threat keeps us in our little cages.
Your poem touched many places in my soul.
Thanks,
ron...enigma |
