Well you'll see. [bodytext] =>

I remember when I was a young girl, anxiously waiting,
for the first sign of snow to get here, till then constantly complaining.
But eventually, on one crisp, cold morning,
looking out the window to my surprise..SNOW!!!
It covered everything, it was everywhere, excited I ran to and fro....
Yelling
"Mommy, where are my galloshes?"

Now a few years later, a teenager I've becomed.
Thinking that snow is kind of a drag, but also welcomed.
I remember the frozen ears and hands, but we were cool.
To wear hats and mits was not the thing to do.
Weekend comes, friends gather,
to watch movies or to just sit and veg, it didn't matter.
Then a plan is formed, to throw snowballs at the boys.
With adrenaline rushing and a smile on my face, this was something i would enjoy.
Yelling
"Mom, where did you put my galloshes?"

Years go by and I`m all grown up.
Thinking about my youth, how much fun it was, but all this must stop.
This white fluffy stuff called"snow" is here again. The weatherman said 31cm and more coming.
Where in the heck am I going to put it? Huge snow mountain at the end of the driveway are forming.
I wish I was in Florida.
Yelling

Hehehe, this was cute! Isn't it funny how when you were a kid, ya couldn't wait, but as an adult, ya groan at the thought of more snow? I can relate to this one ;)

So you call them galloshes. Over here they're Wellingtons after the style of boots invented by Wellington (the victor at Waterloo.

All the same they are never there when you want them

Nice cosy memories.

"Excuse me waiter, can I have my reality check please..." This poem made me stop and think about all the things Itake for granted. How I used to enjoy the simple things in life and the way everything seemed magical and new.

I've grown and these things seem to be a distant memory but like the embers of a fire, your poem has helped to stir these memories into a comforting flame.

Great write.

GALLOSHES________GALLOSHES

I loved this poem !
My grandchildren don't know what in the world galloshes are--"were" or whatever.
I was just over to Sarnia Ontario yesterday--Yes it was snowing.
I live in Port Huron Michigan and cross the Blue Water Bridge often into your beautiful country and find the people loving and kind.
I would never give up my America, but I can joyfully sing--O'Canada

A friend
