Listening to the wolves howl and bark
With a singular bird fluttering peacefully overhead
Doesn't it know it's soon to be dead

As the distant sounds frighteningly ring closer
My heart beats faster and i begin to wonder
Suddenly, a loud gunshot is heard
I look up and see that singular bird

The bird soon begins to fall to the ground
For that bird shall never again make a sound
The death of an animal
The innocent creature it was

As the poacher closes in, the others disappear
He places his traps ever so near
The snakes hiss, squirrels awake
Quietly they must escape with not one mistake

"Bang!!" Heard so suddenly startles all minds
The two men in the cabin even open the blinds
A young deer was captured in the breeze of the night wind
The law may deny that the hunter has sinned

This innocent young creature will be tortured and hung
Then turned into a feast for everyone
As the morning sun begins to rise
All the other creatures open their eyes

Mother awakens to find baby gone, her precious child, her only one
She freaks out and panics, hovers around
Praying for her young one to soon be found
This mother was the young deers guide
This poor mother who's innocent child has just died

THINK TWICE BEFORE ANIMAL CRUELTY!!!!

Great Poem. I too love animals. Yet, I can't even watch Animal Planet.
