Under the rain
Its beating upon me
But i bare it alone

I long for my glove
That i used to hold
That kept my hand warm
My shadow is gone

I sit on the bus
Riding to my haven
I miss the warm blanket
That enveloped me lovingly

I fall asleep in these sheets
And i still feel the draft
That flowed between them
Held up by the missing shadow

I walk the milestones of life
Facing the difficulties along the way
Heart longing for the shoulder
That held me up high

But i miss the most
The touch of silk
As i linked lips
With my beautiful shadow

Wow that was quite the melancholy read. You penned this well.
Peace,
Laura

True in this life sometimes, the ones we love most seem to be with us such a short time...like a shadow on a cloud swept day...

This piece leaves a saddness. Not for just the poet but for the reader.

"With my beautiful shadow", beauty and shadow, paints a picture. A picture that is priceless. I like this concept that your shadow is your friend, not your foe.

A wonderful poem,

~Me~
