My heart would die
But oftentimes
Your words would make me cry

You say you love me
And this I do believe
But not for a moment
Do they relieve

Me
Of the sadness I feel
For a relationship
That makes my heart into steel

If I am to survive
I must not react
For your harsh words often contrive
To sting and exact

A price too high

I want it to be different
For kindness to be
The encompassing basis
Of a relationship with me

I want it to be different
Please hear me now
Before it's too late
Please hear me now [comments] => 4 [counter] => 244 [topic] => 32 [informant] => leslie [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 10 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => SadPoetry )

You hit many a nerve with this one.
Such a sad write, with a great deal of hurt in it. When it comes to family troubles I have no advice to give for I have many of my own and have never been able to overcome them or move past certain points to healthy relationships... I hope something comes through for you.

hugs
Michelle

This poem has a very interesting rhyming scheme which I think goes well with it's flow. Very heartfelt work.

Geez, this brought tears to my eyes. Makes me think of times when I lose my patience and yell at my kids, sometimes saying stuff that of course, I wish I wouldn't of after the fact. Coming from a Mom, you should show this to your Mother...maybe write it down and put it in an envelope for her to find...or mail it to her. Your Mom needs to read this.
Good expression in your write.
Good luck.
Peace,
Laura

Laura's right, you should let your mother read this poem.Communication between child and parent can easily suffer in these mad and hectic days.
A well-composed cry from the heart.
