Reuters - Tuesday, October 16, 2007

WASHINGTON - U.S. forces in Qatar accidentally fired a Patriot missile at a farm in the Gulf Arab state but caused no injuries, the Pentagon said on Tuesday.

The U.S. military is investigating the missile launch, first reported by Al Jazeera television. The Patriot is an anti-missile system.

'Those things are not supposed to accidentally discharge,' said Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman. 'It was not supposed to happen.'

Whitman said the missile was fired into an unpopulated farm area.

Calm down folks! There’s no need for alarm!
Our misguided patriot only hit a farm
Yes, I know we flew a nuke across the states
and in our hands lie all your fates

But you know you can trust us, ‘course you can!
Look at the Commander in Chief, he’s the man
He may sometimes seem cock-eyed but that’s just a squint
I tell you his brain is FIXED! It’s in a splint!

Of course you can trust us even though we lied
And I’m sure our WMD are now hog-tied!
The world all hates us and Iraq is a mess
But you feel safer now you have to confess

You have to confess ‘cause we’ve got you on tape
And if you refuse to do it we’ll accuse you of rape
Come on, say it... for Big Brother, please
If not we’ll blindfold you down on your knees

Waterboarding’s not torture. Do you like water sports?
Now say what we want, don't believe the reports!
Everything’s lovely! We’re safe and secure!
Now, what’s that smell...? Farmyard manure...? [comments] => 1 [counter] => 263 [topic] => 41 [informant] => steeleyes [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => political )

OMFG Hee Hee Wow what screw-ups. America does something totally messed up, and it's "oops, sorry, that wasn't supposed to happen". Bull. Good write, my friend.
Peace to you,
Laura
