I sit with you in flickering blue light,
And pray that this moment will last forever.
You hold me like you love me,
Like that spark is still between us,
The electricity that crackled when we first met.
Then we kiss, and you were never gone,
I’m nineteen, and it’s the first time, all over again.
Hands probe familiar bodies changed by time,
New creases, gaps between us;
Yet still we fit together, too well.
I remember, the smell of you,
The way your shoulder tastes in my mouth,
And how you nibble at my bottom lip, before stopping a kiss.
I want to wrap myself around you,
Lose myself in you,
Forget who I am, and be the girl I used to be,
Undamaged by other men,
Who didn’t know the things that you do,
Pretend knowledge of me.
And you hold my hands, all the way through,
Like you did back then,
When drunk, we fell together and found
That our weight could support the other.
Why I said we should be done I dont know,
Can’t think, too lost in this heated moment,
As my passion and my pain collide;
Heaven.

Omigosh 2sdy ... this is *sigh* .. just too damn brilliant. There is such a
softness in this. A sweet, I-want-to-get-lost-in-you feel to it, that drives
this heart home. Wow. You have expressed the emotion of the moment
OH! so well, here.

"As my passion and my pain collide"

DAMN!!! Could anything be more heavenly? There is so much power
inside of emotions, it would be like a deep, affecting explosion to
have two such stong ones collide. Excellent, EXCELLENT piece!!

This is beautiful - reminding me of my ex. Unfortunately I was already "damaged" when we met, but if he were to hold me today, I'm sure I'd feel all that time we spent together coming back and feeling like the first time.

Don't we always pray it will last forever? Unfortunately time goes by, people change and make mistakes. But it's heaven while it lasts and your poem brings that feeling of heaven home to me. Thanks.
Blessings, J.

Geez woman, my thoughts echo some of these lines. Always good to read you. The ending lines were engaging...

"As my passion and my pain collide;
Heaven"

I so wish the pain would just slough away from past wounds....sometimes I feel like I carry enough baggage only a train could freakin haul it. *rolls eyes*
Thanks for sharing.
Peace and hugs,
Laura
