In the guise of count Lestat,
I walk the cold and lonely road
Where a lover there is not.

But pre this privy story told
By fountain pen on a parchment scroll
Lovers lined up like a paramount toll
Mortal as the seasons.

Thrice on high the gardens grew
A candle lit for the peace I knew.
And thrice infernal fires spread
Through fecund brush to instill the dread.

The candle fell on each one’s prime;
The wicker doused in the tides of time.
Like oil cast on a fervent flame,
Mortality is who we blame!
Mortality is who we blame.

A dirge is sang, a funeral song
In the ebon rain, but before long
The sun is set, the moon doth rise
A Jeweled gaze from her dark eyes.

Chrysanthemums marked the stalwart glance
To merit this march, this twilight dance
Behavior known to only those
Who fall to beauty’s intrepid trance

Sporting leaves in the midnight’s sway
I looked upon her the dusk that day
Though caught amidst eternal stride
She walked straight into the engulfing tide

Without a word or a tender call
She made for the woodland drapes enthralled
By the peace she’d see when she lost it all
And sought a ripe, forbidden fall.

The candle fell on each one’s prime;
The wicker doused in the tides of time.
Like oil cast on a fervent flame,
Mortality is who we blame!
Immortality all the same!
Immortality all the same.
