Standing quite still, I feel the lonely impacts
Of each silvery flake,
Their muted tumbling saturates the sky,
And freezes every breath I take,

Wrapping the lamp lit houses in winters
Boreal teeth,
Throwing icy carpets across the lake,
Winter feels like sleep,

This eerie submergence of spotless white
quietly surrounds me,
The world grows smaller beneath its frigid cloak,
Shifting like the sea,

No mans or ghostly wanderers eyes can find
Me here,
Among the snowdrifts ever-flow, composing peacfull lull,
Stifling the sound of feet,

How souls and hours stand still, amid remoteness
And its glow,
The earth spreads out onto powdery hills,
To where the rest of the world must go…

Beautiful. Although I am not a Winter person, I am always thrilled by the first snow of the season. You have brought the snow to life in this piece. Well penned.
Peace,
Laura

Nice write on snow, but.You can keep the snow. I like looking at it for a few days, but Nope.......too cold. Did paint a pretty image of being in the snow and feeling cold. Thanks for sharing

"I feel the lonely impacts
Of each silvery flake,"

but when nestled together, what beauty they make ...
no?

zenith, this was such a treat for me. I LOVE.. I mean absolutely ADORE winter time.
Not the cold-- just the beauty of fresh fallen snow, the moon filled nights of
crisp, clean air, the glistening stars in a winter's sky, or the sun filled days
that drench the snow with light, causing each flake to sparkle like diamonds.

Breathtaking.

And you've done well to capture that here, but also the quiet, serenity of
a snow scape as well. Much in this has me sighing with every breath and
every read. Your last words are enormous! "To where the rest of the world must go..."
Damn, how profound is that?? Wow!

All in all, just a damn fine bit of poetry. Softly beautiful, but oh so
gloriously thought provoking as well. Excellent write, my friend!

Almost got a winter chill reading this poem. Your imagery is phenomenal...I can feel the snow and the cold and hear the silence...oh I love snow and moments like the one you've described! Peaceful, serene. Like the world is taking a breath. I love the line..Winter feels like sleep. Beautiful. Awesome write.

Thank you,
Carol
