The lazy swash of evening tide,
Chases down the footprints of a child,
Her world revolves around the lazy beat,
And it fills her little heart with awe, to watch the ancient waves retreat..

Her angel waits with sandy buckets in her slender hands,
All that separates them now, sky reflecting pools along the sand,
And a love begins to swell within her soul, unblemished as the sea,
Her mother’s eyes outshine the sun, and in that moment, nothing else can be.

Your wording here was beautiful. This was such a charming piece to read. I just fell in love with that last line...

"Her mother's eyes outshine the sun, and in that moment, nothing else can be."

I lost my mother when I was 18...that line brought a tear to my eye and a some fine memories.
Thank you for sharing.

Peace,
Laura

oh wow .. how beautiful. This is like a gorgeous daydream that
one could entirely be lost inside. Memories are such tremendous
manipulators of emotion. This one, in particular is such a pleasant and
dreamy thought. You had me down at the beach with my OWN
children, laughing and dancing in the waves; curling our toes in the
sand and building sand castles ... damn, I miss those days.

LOVE the last line of the first stanza. it's always such a delight
to watch a child's fascination ... and I love your use of the word
'ancient'. Soooo poectically perfect!
