lights the stairs of my lonely,
four A.M. climb
to our empty apartment

exhaustion eats at the marrow in my bones,
this restless uncertain discontent sucks at my
hope and good faith
no one sees the bite marks but me

i am warm blood and a tender heart, not much more
these thirteen hour days spent
working hard take their toll
and rent and heat rip the money
from my fragile hands

i am easily swayed by strong arguments,
and often dragged kicking and screaming
into fires that i did not start
responsible for the souls that war
my heart is raw, my body beat

i slip between the covers, i close my eyes,
sleep takes me....
my last true release
and with it
i am left, finally, alone [comments] => 3 [counter] => 333 [topic] => 63 [informant] => inlovewithaladd [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 10 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 0 [associated] => [topicname] => hbadday )

sorry the toll of life and all the over whelming things have made you hurt. we all have to do what we have to do, to survive. yes it can be a rut diving moment yet make a few simple changes to get out of it. sadness

Inlovewithalad...sweet sister,

The churning creative mind rebels against the sundry mundane tasks required of us to simply clothe ourselves, eat, drink and stay warm. I had the life sucked out of me for thirty-three years.

Empty apartment...you mentioned earlier somthing about the army. I hope Lad isn't in Iraq.

My heart aches when anyone's experience is that of exhaustion, day in and day out, but when a fellow poet experiences this, I bleed.

I'll be thinking about the both of you.
