Array ( [sid] => 136609 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => The Questions That I Have [time] => 2007-08-09 12:59:14 [hometext] => This is the second poem Ive written. Sorry if its not refined, but it comes from the heart [bodytext] => The questions I have always swim through my mind
I receive no straight answer, forced to leave it behind.
“Why do I stuff my face, while some have none to eat?”
They refuse to acknowledge me, and shuffle their feet.
“Why does the television flicker hatred and lies?”
They change the subject, and avoid your eyes.
Why do greed, malice, and evil exist?
The harder I push, the more they resist.
Is it too much to investigate what burns in my heart?
To understand the reasons these issues tear us apart?
You don’t have to know every detail, every angle
But at least attempt to help me untangle
This web of wrongdoing, this labyrinth of lies
Someone please help me take off the disguise
And begin to understand, start to realize
Why we substitute and for compromise.
Palestinians and Israelis, “Their conflict is needed.”
But one cannot live when the others succeeded.
The s are rising, and so is the spite
The problem is growing, with no end in sight
Peace treaties and cease-fires mean nothing if ignored
If the guns are removed, there will still be the sword
People will kill their brothers just to retain their pride
As long as the anger and hatred remains at their side
These are just some of the problems at hand
With no one around me to take a stand
All I can do is sit and watch these people suffer and die
And hope that someone out there can answer me… “Why?”

Incredible write, flow and meter there, nicely constructed.

Hard times, and yes always seeking an answer... tis a mystery out there
