Array ( [sid] => 135693 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Pouring Rain [time] => 2007-07-03 14:48:32 [hometext] => We've had a lot of rain in Missouri. I wrote this after my two children and I watched a rainstorm coming in. [bodytext] =>

You could see it moving in
like a great gray wall
traveling about across the way

Miles from town we are
and could see the wall approaching
closer and closer

Soon the water tower in town
shrouded... cloaked with a gray veil
of pouring rain

We watch patiently from our
perch on the great porch
Moving it was, across the fields

Crops must be loving this
Sweet nourishing moisture
Sent from Mother Earth

Listen closely children
Hear that sound?
Rain thundering down to the dry dirt

Soon it is here
Beautiful rain drenching all
The spray felt gently on our faces

Then the aroma...
My god there is nothing like
the smell of rain mixed with dirt

We sit and we enjoy
the sounds, the smells and the wonderful touch...
of the pouring rain.

I love the rain...storms...but even more than that, I love childrens take on nature. This reminded me of when my daughter & I were hiking & she told me this wonderful story of how creeks & rivers were formed a long time ago by the footprints of giants that filled w/ rain water.

Wonderous!!!

Oh my sis!!! WOW!

When I went to your page, and saw this title, I knew I HAD to read it,
but I was surprised with the content. I expected something very
different from the title ... how wonderfully serendipitous!!

I was there with you .. inside every description, I could feel the
breeze, smell the air, and actually taste the rain! Brilliant
job hun. I A D O R E this piece! Completely~

What a well written poem, it was as if I was with you all sitting on the porch and patiently waiting to feel the spray from that rain and to smell the earthy smells. I am a sucker for nature and all that it stands for.Keep smiling from bern

Wonderful write hun, I love a good rainstorm! You have evoked so much in this poem, in my mind's eye I can see the rain coming, hear it falling, smell the fragrant damp wafting in the air.
Just brilliant! You know I love your nature writes!

Dom
