Thirty Valium and a Drink Should Help Me Rest, Forget Them

Contributed by alasdaircairns on Friday, 29th June 2007 @ 11:37:35 PM in AEST
Topic: political

Dirty needles shimmer sunbeams in the ancient playground,
Premature adults nod their heads to unforgiving bass sound,
Old war heroes grip their bags too scared to look for new ground,
Noble folk, they seek to soak in journal's lost and found mound.

Greedy merchants dream up ways to safely destroy visions,
Needy urchins long through panes at plasma televisions,
New conquerers search high and low for healthy competition,
Whilst guilty, blessed Godheads invent futile foolish missions.

Dirty secrets gathered form the policies of madmen,
Thirty valium and a drink should help me rest, forget them,
Bleeding hearts and broken souls form rivers to the dead seas,
Needing change to rearrange the only way it could be.

Deflowered heroes flying home in varnished, tarnished oakwood,
Enpowered zeroes bringing rage, rampage around the old 'hood,
Empty stomachs bringing tears and prompting contributions,
Plenty valid reasons in this life to kill the old solutions...

A type of poem with raw truth that digs right into the reader, crafted in tune with verse.
