'Is there any way out of the mind'?-Syvia Plath.
This is vesper.
Believe me, sister
This is our season.
The purple minute
Daisies fold in,
The lacewing's rainbow
Grows explicit around a lightbulb,
The murders of crows
hang in Eucalypts
and the bats that have opened
like umbrellas crackle
with the electricity of the street's
new amber laburnum.
It is not quite dawn in America,
The twilight of antimeridian,
the hour mercurial dew of eves
makes a mirror for starlings,
the Daisies open.
Smoking this red cigarette
I imagine the ebony convex of your eye
opening on the world and a metaphor,
the time you showed me the snow
from your Veranda.
Oh Laura,
it was the slow confetti
of a fistful of lux flakes
and flung in air
the colour of blue fire.

I love you, brother...you know that though. This is you man, this is me. I loved so many of your metaphors here. So many words spoken in lines that are few.
"This is our season.
The purple minute"
You know I read your PM and wrote you before I knew this was even here. Thank you. I cannot tell you how much this means to me. *hugs you tight from afar*.
Ooooo and I must say these lines really got me..
"Smoking this red cigarette
I imagine the ebony convex of your eye"
I loved it all, you made me smile. (well.... and tear up too, if truth be told)
Much peace, love and hugs,
Laura (always a fan) |
