[bodytext] => I peered into the eyes of a nameless face,
someone scurrying along at a rapid pace.
No one I had encountered before,
I smiled, spontaneously, very friendly,
I was amazed how frequently it works.
Once a smile, a warm and caring gesture, is sent
it usually is returned, time well spent.

A universal symbol it seems to be,
albeit, there are different versions we see.
As accompanied by an expression on the face,
a smile is universal throughout the human race.

An expression transmitted by me,
is reflected right back immediately.
No wires or conduits are required,
it is visualized whether near or far.

Nameless eyes gaze back at me,
perhaps indicative of some generalized mutual harmony.
An international code of some kind,
where heart and soul transcend the mind.

Interestingly, we automatically respond,
an infectious condition from beyond.
As once it is transmitted it really spreads,
extremely contagious it is said.

A select few are immune and don't respond for a while.
A limited number of people find it difficult to smile,
while others are grinning all the time.
Suffice it to say, it makes my day.

Oh Will, I truly loved this write. You are so right about smiles...they are so addictive, as is laughter. I don't know too many folks who don't return a smile for a smile. It is the universal language of all. Great job with this. It definitely put a smile on my face.
Much peace,
Laura

Oh wil, I adore your attitude and am in full agreement with you.
I actually did an experiment like this one day, just to see the results ..
and not only do smiles work, but all other 'friendly' gestures too!
Peolple just can't continue to be grumpy or irritated when they are
greeted with kindness, friendliness and caring. It's next to
impossible!!

Wonderful write, Wil. Not only did it put a smile on my face,
but in my heart as well. I wish the world could be filled with
people like you!! Splendid!

How I wish more people would embrace this wonderful sentiment! I always try to smile and be pleasant, it creates a better atmosphere and makes people relax.
Lovely poem, smiles all round!

Wow! Bleeding of gentle and sweet melodic poetry!

Once a smile, a warm and caring gesture, is sent
it usually is returned, time well spent.

I hate delining anyone's work but I had to. Because HOW POETIC IS THAT! A very impactful, romantic, and wonderfully crafted line in a complete work of art. I love and truely adore this write as a whole. I agree a smile can make the day. One at the right moment from the right person (which can even sometimes be a stranger) can get us through our monotonous lives. A very inspiring piece. I will now go to read the first poem on the subject....but this is poetry to the very letter!

SUPERB!
