Array ( [sid] => 13482 [catid] => 1 [aid] => Mick [title] => The Sunshine On My Face [time] => 2003-02-28 00:00:00 [hometext] => Is there someone special in your life that you may be overlooking?

-=::.......................................................::=- [bodytext] => I came today to see you, one last time before you go,
There’s something that’s been on my mind, I had to let you know,
So many times when I was sad you helped me to get through,
You made a difference in my life, I’ll bet you never knew.
I never opened up my heart to tell you how I feel,
But you always seemed to be around, helping me to heal.
So let me break the silence, though I fear it’s much too late,
And say these words that pressure me beneath their weary weight.

I didn’t see the person that you always tried to be,
You were always deep and tender, at least you were to me,
So forgive my hand this touch, upon your gentle face,
As my fingers memorize you by the features that they trace.
Your smile warmed my heart, in ways I didn’t know,
Oh please my love don’t leave me, I don’t want for you to go.
Too soon the time has come as pallbearers take their place,
But in my heart you’ll always be, the sunshine on my face.

Doug ... I didn't realise till I got to the end ... and so had to read it a few more times - the part where you say "my fingers memorize you by the features that they trace" is so moving ... this is a beautiful poem. ... Jan

I really like this poem in a way where you feel at the right moment you could start crying to realize the one you truly treasure is really gone, and I've recently had that with me, so I really love this poem, because it shows another view of how I feel.
