For a world
Where magic still exists?
And where dreams CAN become reality?

I have.
I dreamt,
of such a world once,
so long ago,
A world where I found
Celestial bliss.

I remember
I walked upon a velvet carpet of grass
As green as emerald,
Speckled with sweet, young flowers
That rose up high
And gently tickled my bare skin.

A cool breeze tenderly caressed
My cheek
On that warm sunny day
And gently blew through my hair
Chasing my worries away
Bringing to me,
The sweet fragrance of spring time flowers.
In that land of eternal peace,
I saw butterflies alight,
Like curious baby deer
Nosing a newly blossomed daisy
In the lush, green grass,
Never having known
A single worry,
Nor the meaning of the dark word
Fear.

Beneath that summer blue sky, void of clouds,
I drank
From a pool of crystal clear waters
Right from the heart of the age-old mountains
While the new-born cubs played
In the bright sunshine
All around me.

I sat and admired
As I leaned against a wizened oak tree,
A pair of exotic peacocks courting,
While I squeezed
A shiny red berry
Till the sticky, warm juice
Trickled deliciously,
Down my throat.

At last,
I fell asleep,
Entranced
By the exquisite play of fiery
Golden-orange colors
Cast by the sunset,
With the memory of
Sweet bird song
High above me.
And the silky fur of the head
Of a shy little panther
Under my hand.
And I dreamt.

There was a flash of light
And I seemed to wake into
The trance-like, silver moonlight.
I heard the notes of a heavenly tune,
So clear
Against the silence of the night
That lifted my soul
In ecstasy.
In that moment,
I was invaded
By a feeling of utter, complete bliss
And serenity.
I felt the blinding power
Of the very heavens!
Pour into my veins!
With every beat of my heart!
Such undreamt of power!
To be able to move
The very mountains from their roots!

Slowly,
I turned my head,
And lo-behold! I glimpsed!
I saw! I was honored with!
The sight of the most stunning
Creature to exist!
Graceful and magnificent!
The very embodiment
Of beauty!
It was a unicorn!
Pure silver, flecked with gold,
It tossed
Its angelic head,
A non-existent wind
Gently
Ruffling its
Flowing mane and tail.

It looked at me
With its soft, wise, blue eyes
And seemed to smile kindly,
As if to a child.
Like a jewel
In the deep, night sky,
Towards me,
It nodded,
Its delicate, diamond horn.

As on a cue,
Once again,
The wondrous music started up
Ever more poignantly
And tore
From my heart,
Such sublime emotions
My heart was full to burst!
From joy
And shatter
From grief
All together at once,
The two halves of the soul
United
Under the spell
Of the unicorn’s song.

Something touched me
Softly on the neck,
Light as a petal,
Floating,
On the water.
I glanced behind,
And I saw,
Small, soft, golden lights
Falling from the stars.

In wonder and amazement,
I reached out to touch
Those enchanting lights.
Mystified, they glowed brightly
On my skin
And washed away my cares.
And I smiled
For the first time in my life
I truly smiled,
Tears pouring down my cheeks.

Outlined by the
Shining, silver Moon,
The silhouette of the
Beautiful, beautiful
Legendary Horse,
Once more nodded,
This time,
In farewell.

Years have flown,
Since I passed
Into a sweet,
Dreamless sleep,
After that night,
Yet age,
Has not prevented me
From yearning for
It’s return
Once more.
And here as I lay,
In my aged bed
I dream
That when the last sleep
Comes again,
I will once more,
Visit that,
Long, lost paradise
Of mine,
In a country, so far, far
Away.
