You certainly know how to cater to your audience... Your meaning eludes me, though. Why poets? Why the heart? You can't be claiming that love is a bane for poetry, a quick glance in these halls will disprove that. So what kills poets? Distractions? Getting busy with everyday life? Having to pay bills and giving up the freedoms that allow for creativity? "Struck" suggests an arrow to me, and an arrow in the heart suggests love... A fine aphorism. I just wish i understood. :-) Your mind is a treasure of which I have only discovered the smallest portion.

    BZ.
