Array ( [sid] => 13444 [catid] => 1 [aid] => Mick [title] => Good Enough [time] => 2003-02-27 12:40:00 [hometext] => A poem about low self-esteem, and friendship. [bodytext] => Tell me something.
When was it
That you made up your mind?
When was I good enough for you?
I’m not even good enough for me.
I’m not even good enough for me.

A paraplegic with open arms
Once promised me no harm
And lost a bet to Pride and Greed
And had to water Satan’s seed.
A quadruped went belly-up
And seeped back underground
While my former friend spent his time
Carrying that seed around.

So what do you think of this new array?
What would you think if you knew I was gay?
Why can I think of nothing to say?
I believe Ryan, can he come and play?

The devil said do it. My conscience said don’t.
My mother said quit it, but I know I won’t.
My friends always told me that they had no faith,
And I’d wear this scar till I was a waste.
My pride said I’m better. My greed said I can.
My worries said, “Shut up,” and slapped at my hand.
My father, he loves me. My puppy does too.
But all that was bull****. Tell me something new.

Tell me, when was it you made up your mind?
When was I not worth dragging behind?
What in the world, did I ever do?
When’d I become good enough for you?
I’m not even good enough for me.
I’m not even good enough for me.
That is why it’s hard, you see.
I’m not even good enough for me.

there is so much pain and anger in this poem, but you expressed yourself so well.
