Who would of thought that this could happen?
Not I, I was the fool who believed...
all could be serenity.
Oh! No matter how hard I ache
no matter how my soul quakes in pain...
I shall survive. Shhhhhh.....I am insane.

I ran yesterday
Hard and haphazardly like when I was
just a child on this farm.
No shoes.
Earth and mud between my toes.
Screaming in the fields.
Yelling to the grasses which swayed in the wind.
Hair falling from my head
that so blindly I grabbed and pulled.

My direction?
Just running to the farthest place
my legs could possibly carry me.
Ahhh there is somewhat of a freedom...
of a release that is gained.
So many hard stalks from years past harvest...
pain reminding me,
I am still alive.
Thorns pierce barefoot...
blood marries earth.

Nothing stops me.
Pain takes away numbness...
numbness grown from grief.
I collapse in the field.
Dirtied and in a heap.
Breathing ravenously.
Watching spider crawl across hand...
too hurt to care.
Too tough to be taken down...

by the likes of you.

The picture with the darkened sky is rather depressing. This is a powerful poem, Laura.
It speaks to me of pain, agony and fear. But there is no esxape from our selves, just tormet. Many of us live with a tormeted child within...

These are just thoughts triggered by yout poem. Masterfully written my friend.

Will

Wow.

I find it's hard for one to capture my full attention with a poem, but you did just that. I fell into my hands reading this, wanting more and more.

Exquisite write. Breathtaking piece. :)
